IPO GMP Today

Methodology

Most GMP sites show you one number with no explanation of where it came from. We think that's the wrong way to report an unofficial, unregulated market. Here is exactly what we do โ€” the whole recipe, nothing hidden.

Where the numbers come from

There is no official source of GMP. SEBI, NSE, BSE, registrars and companies publish nothing before listing. GMP originates with informal grey-market dealers and circulates through phone calls, WhatsApp and Telegram. Public tracker websites publish their read of those dealer rates โ€” and they routinely disagree, especially on small SME issues.

We aggregate the numbers published by these public trackers, with credit and a link on every IPO page:

We don't deal in the grey market, we have no dealer relationships, and we don't adjust any number by hand. We are an aggregator and auditor of what public trackers claim โ€” nothing more, and honestly, nothing less either.

The computation

  1. Every hour, we fetch each tracker's published GMP for every live and upcoming IPO.
  2. IPO names are normalised and matched across trackers (trackers spell names differently).
  3. For each IPO we compute the median of all reported values, plus the minimum and maximum โ€” the range you see everywhere on this site.
  4. Estimated listing gain = median GMP รท upper price band, when the price band is announced.

Accuracy, audited in public

Does GMP actually predict listing gains? We keep a public, automatically-updated scoreboard comparing final GMP predictions with actual listing prices: see the accuracy tracker.
